Overview

The mission of ComCor is to develop, establish, and maintain community based corrections programs that provide sanctions and alternatives to incarceration, and to provide leadership and coordination throughout the criminal justice community. ComCor offers a variety of programs for nonviolent offenders that help save jail space in the adult detention center, allowing offenders to maintain their jobs, support their families, and provide restitution to the crime victims and the community. Comcor works with state and government agencies to provide these alternative programs.

 

ComCor, a growing company currently seeking a responsible individual to fill the position of CTS Security Specialist. The Security Specialist provides a system of accountability and continuous supervision of the adult offender population by monitoring all residential activities.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensures security for all staff and residents for the internal and external security of Client Services building during evening and weekend hours.
  2. Responsible for client accountability in the Client Services Building
  3. Enforces the Conditions and Expectations guidelines through area and accountability checks
  4. Randomly conducts personal and room searches to verify the presence of each client and detection contraband items, which can include contraband searches including the use of canines.
  5. Provides detailed documentation of client violation of Conditions and Expectations, medical incident reports, critical incident reports and documentation of positive recognition through company computer program.
  6. Operates with a level of integrity to comply with all Federal, State and County compliance standards to include the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).
  7. Conducts transportation of clients to and from residential facilities.
  8. Monitors cameras to supplement staff presence within the environment
  9. Employs appropriate utilization of de-escalation tactics to include problem solving and Motivational Interviewing techniques to resolve conflict.
  10. Responsible for light administrative duties
  11. Performs other job related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

 

Experience: Preferred experience in corrections or social services to include Evidence Based Practices, BSMART and CORE correctional practices.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Good problem solving and judgment skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact appropriately with clients and staff
  • Ability to work various shifts to meet facility needs
  • Good computer typing skills
  • Ability to file and generate reports accurately
  • Ability to multi-task

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Work Environment: This job operates in a correctional residential setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit for various amounts of time. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position functioning in a 24/7 operation. Shifts are eight (4-5) hours in length and hours and days of work may vary depending on operational requirements.

 

Travel: Some light travel may be required for this position for trainings, transports, etc. and to various facilities. All travel must be pre-approved by management.
