The mission of ComCor is to develop, establish, and maintain community based corrections programs that provide sanctions and alternatives to incarceration, and to provide leadership and coordination throughout the criminal justice community. ComCor offers a variety of programs for nonviolent offenders that help save jail space in the adult detention center, allowing offenders to maintain their jobs, support their families, and provide restitution to the crime victims and the community. ComCor works with state and government agencies to provide these alternative programs.


ComCor, a growing company is currently seeking a responsible individual to fill the position of Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and strategic direction of the department. Provides expert level employment counsel to executive leadership and oversees HR organizational, regulatory and compliance programs.


  1. Reviews and recommends to executive management improvements to the organization’s policies, practices, and procedures on all personnel matters including developing strategic initiatives.
  2. Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and practices and employment legislation and ensures organizational compliance with federal, state and local legislation.
  3. Communicates changes in organization’s personnel policy and procedures.
  4. Ensures investigation and resolution of employee relations disputes and internal/external complaints are addressed effectively, following due process, and efficiently.
  5. Administers the organization’s total rewards (compensation and benefits) programs. Oversees benefits administration including review and selection of plans, worker’s compensation, workplace accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA), and ergonomic considerations.
  6. Oversees talent management (recruitment and hiring) and employee life cycle process for optimal effectiveness and efficiency based on the organizational mission, vision, values and objectives.
  7. Develops performance management and employee relations programs that capitalizes on employee talent and maximizes collaboration and teamwork.
  8. Recruits, hires, trains and mentors HR staff.
  9. Establishes and maintains a customer service orientation within the department and organization.
  10. Coaches managers and staff as needed with resolving issues and problem solving.
  11. Conducts workplace investigations as needed and advises executive management on findings and recommendations to resolve issues.
  12. Collaborates with Training Department to ensure effective staff training and organizational development.
  13. Assures implementation of appropriate workplace culture strategies that promote retention and positive employee relations.
  14. Develops and maintains HR information systems that meet the organizational needs for data.
  15. Maintains an effective records management system.
  16. Works with the CEO and Leadership Team in visioning, succession planning and strategic planning activities.
  17. Performs other job related duties as required.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, organization management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Seven (7) years of HR experience with progressive leadership responsibilities required (ten years preferred). A combination of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements.


Licensure(s) and Certification(s): Senior-level HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) or equivalent desired.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit for various amounts of time. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position with normal working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Travel: Some light travel may be required for this position for meetings, trainings, etc. and to various facilities. All travel must be pre-approved by management.
