  • Overview

    The mission of ComCor is to develop, establish, and maintain community based corrections programs that provide sanctions and alternatives to incarceration, and to provide leadership and coordination throughout the criminal justice community. ComCor offers a variety of programs for nonviolent offenders that help save jail space in the adult detention center, allowing offenders to maintain their jobs, support their families, and provide restitution to the crime victims and the community. ComCor works with state and government agencies to provide these alternative programs.

     

    ComCor goes beyond providing basic community corrections services by offering a unique blend of correctional services and treatment programs that provide opportunities for offenders to change their lives and make positive contributions to society.  In our ComCor Treatment Services Department our counselors/therapist are ultimately responsible for providing indivudal and group therapy to offenders with a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency.The Certified Addictions Counselor must have thorough knowledge of substance use disorders and related evidenced based assessments and treatment. Provide direct therapeutic services, group and individual, to substance abusing adults.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Works collaboratively with the offender and appropriate case management to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses priority needs of the patient, desired treatment outcomes, an agreed upon plan of action, and reassessment and to conduct substance use related assessments
    2. Utilizing approved curriculum to facilitate weekly groups and provides individual treatment to residents.  Incorporates the use of Evidenced Based Practices and Motivational Interviewing skills.
    3. Conduct group and individual therapeutic interventions
    4. Administer follow-up assessments
    5. Report on progress and outcome of treatment services
    6. Completes clinical reports, assessments, program plans, discharge reports and clinical notes to stay in compliance. .
    7. May participate in mental health on call, based on education/experience.
    8. Incorporate the use of Evidenced Based Practices and Motivational Interviewing skills.
    9. Performs other job related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or a related field required with one year counseling experience preferred. Requires a current certification with Department of Regulatory Agencies as a Certified Addictions Counselor II (CAC II) or higher (CAC III, LAC).Experience in half-way house/supervised residential environment and/or corrections management essential.  Previous work experience with offenders, drug abusers, or alcoholics preferred.

    • Ability to show empathy and sensitivity to clients.

    • Ability to maintain a high tolerance to mental stress.
    • Flexibility in responding to crisis outside of normal business hours and ability to work some evenings and/or weekends.
    • Ability to participate in a 24-hour a day on-call system.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use correctional software.

     

     

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.

     

    Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit for various amounts of time. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position functioning in a 24/7 operation. Shifts are eight (8) hours in length and hours and days of work may vary depending on operational requirements.

     

    Travel: Some light travel may be required for this position for meetings, trainings, etc. and to various facilities. All travel must be pre-approved by management.
